The great Sioux shaman Black Elk speaks of “walking in a sacred manner.” To walk in a sacred manner is to make an art of life, to attend to each moment as though it were the last, to take each step as though it were the first. To breath love and awareness into this tiny body, entering the greater body we share. Seeing that each step must be taken lightly, not with force, not creating more self, becoming more of a “doer,” more of a seperate identity, which draws suffering upon itself. To walk in a sacred manner is to let go fo our suffering and allow the scintillating “thusness”  of each moment to nurture and direct the next step.

The Superego is a structure that forms the apex of the psychic structure and includes the ideals of the personality and the principles of judgment. It is the seat of what is customarily called conscience. It develops mainly by internalizing and identifying with the prohibitions, rules, values, and preferences of the parents and society at large….
      The best approach is to decrease the power and influence of the superego and to replace it with awareness as much as possible, all the way to the final and complete dethronement of the superego.
